Do you know . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . why JULIE turned down a producer who offered her a film role in 1970?
“I get more satisfaction playing a good dramatic role,” she said, “but all the scripts I get have nude scenes, and they’re not for
me.”
Did you know . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . the photograph for JULIE’s first album cover [for JULIE IS HER
NAME] was taken while JULIE was lying down on a couch?
Liberty Records founder, Si Waronker, who liked provocative covers, had the couch cut out of Phil Howard’s photograph and the picture was then cropped for the cleavage.
Did you know . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . that the creator of the television show Honey West
---- who also authored eight novels
about the blonde lady private eye before the show aired with Anne Francis in the title role ----
dedicated his creation to JULIE? The dedication in the novel, Blood And Honey, written by
G. G. Fickling, reads:
To JULIE LONDON
The symbol
The embodiment
And the fire
of Honey.
Did you know . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . that Bobby wrote The Happy Road for JULIE's character, Julia Saxon, to sing on THE BIG VALLEY?
And speaking of THE BIG VALLEY . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . did you know that publicity pictures of JULIE taken for MAN OF THE WEST were used in the episode
They Called Her Delilah? JULIE guest starred as Julia Saxon; the pictures were used as part of a signboard
advertising Julia's singing appearance in Stockton.
Ever wonder why . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . JULIE recorded the Mickey Mouse March?
JULIE says, “I was backstage in Australia, and I was rehearsing for a show at a nightclub.
I had my little girl, Kelly, who was just a couple of years old at the time, with me.
She got antsy, so I started to sing the song
Mickey Mouse to settle her down or just get her attention. The guitarist started playing it behind me, and we ended up doing the song in the show that night.
And it went over well.”
And when JULIE recorded
NICE GIRLS DON’T STAY FOR BREAKFAST in 1967, the Mickey
Mouse March was one of the tracks chosen for the album. It was also the closing number for the television show
JULIE: SOMETHING SPECIAL.
Did you know . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . that Bobby once wrote an article about JULIE called This Is My Beloved?
The article, with photographs, was published in TV and Movie Screen in June, 1959. By the end of the year, JULIE and Bobby were married.
